Boarding Ladder

Comments Off

We have been refinishing our YS 35 wood boarding ladder.  There is a lot of surface area and horizontal, upsidedown and vertical surfaces to Cetol.  Our first coat is done.  After a lot of sanding by hand and orbital noise maker we decided to try the brand new Fein MultiTool I bought with the proceeds from the old wind indicator and misc I sold on eBay.  Wow, boy does that work nice.  No more slaving with the sander.  This thing gets in the corners and edges so easily.  I just cannot believe it.  And is it ever quiet.

A couple of days ago I bought SAM a dust, orgainc vapor/mist mask from 3M.  It was $30.  We used it while sanding the boarding ladder last Thursday.  It has found a permanent place in our tool chest.  I have been using one for many years for a multitude of purposes and most recently to keep the teak dust our of my nose, sinus and lungs.  Teak dust seems to be particularly irritating to my system.  It also totally removes the fumes from the Cetol, mineral spirits and other thinners.  I won’t be without it while sanding.
